Author Michael Pollan gave a great talk today in the CSM Theatre

Author Michael Pollan spoke in the CSM Theatre today from 12-1pm as part of the President's Lecture Series. Pollan is author of many books including The Omnivore's Dilemma, In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto, and most recently, Food Rules.

There was a great turnout as students and staff filled the auditorium to hear Pollan speak about food and problems that arise for the western diet and/or processed food. His talk was brilliant, funny and engaging as he offered solutions to combat the obesity and diabetes epidemics here in the US. If you are looking for a good book to read over the summer. the Library carries several of his titles.

Welcome to Spring 2010

Well, this semester started off quite dramatically with a storm that caused power outages on the CSM campus. As a result, day classes were canceled on Tuesday. So far the campus and library have been open all day Wednesday despite the deluge of rain, high winds and thunder storms.

Come into the library where it's nice and dry. We have nice librarians that are here to answer any of your questions. We also have computers, magazines and books for research or leisure between classes. In addition, if you didn't already know this, we have a number of textbooks on 2-hour reserve for use in the library. You can call ahead at 650.574.6232 to see if CSM Library carries your course texbook.
